This weekend (4-5 June) Sherborne’s Hidden Gardens were once again open to the public.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care and Weldmar Hospicecare Trust, 19 gardens were opened to visitors.
Most of these gardens are completely hidden from view: from the street you would never know that a glorious garden was just beyond the wall. These super blooming spaces are a credit to Sherborne’s gardeners and we thank them for letting us get a glimpse of what they’ve been up to.
This weekend is when residents of the town open their gardens to the public in aid of charity.
The event is being organised by the Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles with sponsorship provided by Gardens Group and Church House Investment Management. Proceeds will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care, St Margaret’s Hospice and charities in the town.
Sherborne has many town houses that have no front gardens, but when you get round the back some beautiful (if sometimes unexpected) sights can meet the eye:
Who can tell what secrets these hidden gardens might contain?
