Sherborne Castle grounds look stunning this year.
Head Gardener Tim Stiles says that this year’s autumn Castle grounds are the best he has seen for at least 10 years – and he should know(!)
The leaves on the trees come in a huge variety of autumn shades, providing a landscape of amazing colours.

Congratulations to Tim and his (small) team for cultivating and sustaining such a marvellous terrain!
Great news – we are joint Champion of Champions in the South West region of RHS Britain in Bloom.
At the presentation event at Somerset County Cricket Ground in Taunton yesterday, we were awarded the title jointly with St Just, Cornwall. The judge, Jon Wheatley, announced that St Just and Sherborne scored exactly the same number of leading points in this year’s Champion of Champions competition and that therefore we were joint Champions.
The prizes were presented by Lord Julian Fellowes who is a patron of South West in Bloom. This picture shows the members of our team who attended the event holding the cup and the certificates awarded to us.
The CoC competition is open only to last year’s South West in Bloom category winners. Because we won the Preece Cup last year we were the winners in the Small Town category. So this year we competed against all these other winners in their categories:
- Weston Super Mare
- St Just
- St Issey
And we came out top!
This is an enormous achievement for Sherborne. We are so grateful to all of our numerous friends who have contributed their time, skills, commitment (and money!) to make this prestigious award possible.

This website is honoured to have twice won the coveted Barry Cruse Trophy for 'Best Website' in the South West in Bloom regional competition.
We were awarded the trophy in 2010 and 2013.
